Domain name registration service by Google available only by invitation

Google is testing a service which allows customers to search, purchase, and transfer domain names to their business. However, such a domain name registration service test version will be available to the customers only by invitation.

A lot of businesses are looking to establish their presence online, which will soon boost the demand for domain names.

GoDaddy is one of the largest domain name registration organization. This move by Google was made just after GoDaddy filed papers for a USD 100 million raise via a share sale. This measure by Google places them directly in competition with GoDaddy, according to a chairman of VML Qais from a digital marketing service agency.

During the filing with the authorities figures show that GoDaddy has 57 million domains under its management by the end of the last year, which resulted in revenue generation of USD 1.1 billion.

Google is the world’s most popular search engine online. According to Timimi, there were always rumors present within the industry which indicated that Google had a domain name registration service. But, this service has been mostly used internally to fight spam and provide cleaner search results to users. Currently, Google is focusing on using this service for commercial purposes.

Google has tied up with other four firms which specialize in developing websites. These four firms are Shopify, Wix, Weebly, and Squarespace. Google said that it will also be providing hosting service from various providers as well as domain management service to clients.
