The improved version of the Wal-Mart website gives a better shopping experience to the consumers because it enables them to view the promotions at the local stores. The new website is accessible to almost half of Wal-Mart’s daily and regular customers.
Wal-Mart is also trying to enhance and improve its capacities in e-commerce to compete with one of the best known online retailer, which is Amazon. Furthermore, Wal-Mart also aims at driving greater growth in its business via the Internet. In the month of June, Wal-Mart promoted Fernando Madeira, a Latin American executive to chief executive officer.
Arkansas-based Wal-Mart, Bentonville is upgrading its search engine technology and the tools pertaining to recommendation and personalization with a view to forming a strong base for the website’s future updates.
The shares of Wal-Mart remained the same at the close in New York at $73.54. However, the value of the shares has declined this year.
