An MNC firm, which specializes in after-market and has expertise in auto parts, will launch a distribution center at the West Plains.
A subsidiary of LKQ Corp., Keystone Automotive Corp., will construct a 250,000-square-foot warehouse nearby Hallett Road south of Interstate 90, according to the vice president of business development at Greater Spokane Inc., Ms. Robin Toth. The unit will hire about 60 people and should be open by the end of the year, she stated.
The director of public works for the City of Spokane, Mr. Rick Romero, stated the city public works committee (CPWC) that the new unit will be situated at Thomas Mallen Road. He did not name the industry, but stated about 1/3rd of the jobs formed there will pay out more than US$40,000 per year, while the rest will give less than that.
The new unit of the Keystone Automotive would not be far from another big distribution plant constructed by Caterpillar around three years ago. Ms. Toth stated that it is the hope of GSI that the distribution center will develop, just as the center of Caterpillar has. The distributor of heavy equipment launched in 2013 with 90 staffs and its workforce has almost doubled, Ms. Toth stated.
She also said that the site, near the Medical Lake interchange, is nearby the airport and the freeway. The land is possessed by SDS Realty Inc. that also managed the transaction.
Initially, Keystone was seeking a functional unit to shift quickly into this area. Mr. Victor Over-holser from SDS Realty stated in a news release.
