CenturyLink, a prominent telecommunications company will be taking steps as per the goal that it has set of reaching out to 7 lakh residential homes with the help of the FTTP initiative (fiber-to-the-premises). The company has plans of reaching the residential segment via this initiative by 2015 end. Senior officials at CenturyLink have stated that the company will continue driving this service into almost ten markets that it had declared earlier.
The company wants to make it market presence be felt in some of its major markets and also some of the chosen cities. After reaching out to the residential segment, CenturyLink wants to take to further business expansion by 2016 and in the subsequent years. It has also been observed that there has been strong rate of FTTP service subscriber adoption in those markets wherein this service is currently accessible and available.
Within the market’s consumer segment, the result is quite satisfactory with the launch of IPTV and high bandwidth services. In the company’s GPON markets such as Omaha, the predetermined take rates have exceeded the expectations of the officials at the company. Simultaneously, the company is trying to make progress in the market with the help of the broadband and Prism IPTV services.
It was reported by CenturyLink that in the last quarter there were almost eight thousand customers for Prism TV that were added to the overall customer base that it currently has. This increased the penetration into the market by almost 2.4 million homes thereby marking an increase of 10.2%. However, the main problem still being witnessed is the loss of the voice line that in a way is proving to be quite detrimental the desirable levels of consumer revenue.
