About Automotive Automatic Transmission System
An automotive automatic transmission (AT) system allows the gears to be automatically changed, without the need for pressing the clutch manually. This type of transmission system is also known as self-shifting transmission or n-speed transmission and provides a wide range of speed and torque output. A vehicle equipped with AT comes equipped with automatic gearboxes, which are devoid of the conventional clutch pedal. Transmission is a key function of vehicle powertrain and is a type of gearbox that transfers the power generated from an internal combustion engine to the wheel axle. An automotive transmission includes the entire drivetrain comprising various components such as a clutch, prop shaft, gearbox, drive shafts, and differentials among others. Currently, different types of transmission systems are used in vehicles that include manual transmission (MT), AT, continuously variable transmission (CVT), and dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Technavios analysts forecast the global automotive automatic transmission system market to grow at a CAGR of 6.96% during the period 2017-2021.
