Description
In 2012, the Austrian hand rolling tobacco market grew for the ninth consecutive year, reaching 579 tonnes, equivalent to 767 million cigarettes. Competition is intense with the top three players accounting for a combined 74.8% of the market. BAT's Pall Mall is the leading brand family and is progressively growing share, as is Imperial's JPS, while more traditional brands, including Samson, Maverick, Drum and Van Nelle, are losing share. Growth is expected to continue over the coming decade with volume expansion of some 52% compared with an 11.8% contraction in the manufactured cigarette sector.
