Most soft drinks categories demonstrated a decline in sales in Q2-16 and in 2016 overall. Difficult economic conditions and much less favorable weather than a year ago led to worsened sales. Very few new products were introduced during Q2-16 in Belarus. Most operators postponed new product plans for later periods, when the economy has stabilized. Imports continued to decline in all soft drinks categories and producers have been trying to export as many products as they can.

Both carbonated and still water demonstrated similar performance both declined vs. the similar period of the previous year

Consumers continued to exclude more expensive enhanced water from their purchases due to economic difficulties

Only cola flavor, supported by international operators, was able to record some rather marginal, growth and all other flavors demonstrated decline

Hot tea is the most traditional hot beverage in the region and the category was supported by both at home consumption and Horeca

Price remained one of the most important factors for Belarusian consumers
