All commercial beverages posted growth helped by a strong beer performance. The soft drinks market however did not see such encouraging results during the quarter with carbonates suffering the most. Poor weather and economic uncertainty dampened volumes. Enhanced water was less impacted as the consumers of this niche category tend to be less affected by outside factors. All sub categories in alcoholic drinks saw a decline with the exception of beer.

Key Findings
Packaged water had a disappointing quarter with both still and carbonated showing declines vs. the previous year

The large Private Label segment of flavored water performed well, driven by keen pricing

The juice category was impacted by the negative variance in tourist numbers

Dairy drinks saw a further decline across most sub categories with the exception of soymilk and GNRS alternatives

Sports drinks were increasingly being absorbed into consumers lifestyles to boost their leisure time exercise regimes
