All commercial beverages grew in Q2-16 compared with the same period last year. The warmer weather especially in May had a positive effect on consumption for all soft drinks categories with the exception of juice which continues to decline due to the sugar debate. The packaged water and carbonates market benefited from innovation from the major players as did the iced/RTD tea drinks, sports drinks and energy drinks. Carbonates also benefited from major multipack promotions by market giants.

Key Findings
The warmer weather gave a boost to the overall packaged water market and also carbonates both of which benefited from significant innovation in Q2-16

The dairy category saw modest growth for white milk, flavored milk and traditional fermented but drinking yogurts continued to edge back in consumption

Beer consumption was slightly down despite the warmer weather but cider performed well in Q2-16. Wine, spirits and FABs consumption was also up due to warmer weather
