Seasonably cool weather influenced demand for soft drinks. Packaged water continued to buoy soft drinks as most other categories floundered. Sports and energy drinks volumes combined were flat over the quarter. Sports drinks suffer from an outdated image and many consumers now question their supposed revitalizing value. Euro 2016 provided a good opportunity to grow beer sales but volumes remained almost flat due to supermarket rationalization. ACB volumes managed a fractional improvement, largely thanks to coffee and wine.
